1997: It was a time when the film “Titanic” was showing in cinemas, Tony Blair celebrated victory in the United Kingdom elections, and the German football team Schalke 04 triumphed in the UEFA Cup. It was also a time of transformation for LOWA. Werner Riethmann and his development team were busy thinking of a new way to manufacture hiking boots and make them lighter. They drew inspiration from leisure time and the world of running. For the first time in the company’s history, LOWA produced footwear that was directly injected, rather than cemented, giving rise to the RENEGADE.

The RENEGADE GTX MID is equipped with Vibram soles. The Italian sole manufacturer has been one of the leading high-quality sole brands for many years.

VIBRAM EVO utilizes proven Vibram technology: a multifunctional profile design with an optimal rubber compound for various terrains. Combined with a tried-and-true heel profile for comfortable descents.

High breathability GORE-TEX footwear, designed for optimal breathability, provides comfort even during intense activities. Water cannot penetrate the shoes, and moisture that builds up inside escapes through the billions of pores in the GORE-TEX membrane.

Windproof The GORE-TEX membrane effectively guards against wind and harsh weather conditions. This allows you to go on excursions regardless of the weather.

To ensure effective cushioning and enhanced comfort, the RENEGADE GTX MID sole is connected to the upper using a technically sophisticated injection process. The upper of the shoe is placed in a specially designed mold, and various layers of PU foam cushioning are injected into it. During this process, the sole and upper are fused together.

Lightweight In this process, a plastic called polyurethane is used. It is a very lightweight foam cushioning material.

Cushioning Polyurethane, the plastic used, has excellent cushioning properties. It retains its shape and returns to its original state even when millions of tiny bubbles are compressed together. This creates a good rebound effect.

Wide range of design possibilities Thanks to direct injection, soles can be formed in a variety of ways. The versatile properties of the materials used allow the shoes to be effective in many areas.

Thanks to the LOWA-MONOWRAP® frame, the RENEGADE GTX MID midsole provides the best comfort. LOWA developed this three-dimensional midsole design in 1995. The frame comfortably supports the foot and stabilizes it when the wearer is moving on uneven terrain.

Greater comfort The special midsole design ensures comfortable foot support. The three-dimensional frame gently hugs the foot.

Lightweight LOWA-MONOWRAP® is made from polyurethane plastic, which is very lightweight.

Thanks to the two-zone lacing system used in the RENEGADE GTX MID, the front and upper parts of the foot have separate adjustable lacing zones. This allows the shoe to be individually tailored to the anatomy of the foot and laced in various ways to handle ascents and descents.
